Constipation predominant IBS (IBS-C)

I was diagnosed with IBS several years ago, in my 30s, I'm 44 now. About a month ago I think I had an IBS(C) flare up, although the stool wasn't hard, it became significantly more difficult to pass it (a distinct change in my bowel habits). I think part of the issue is that I'm a bit of a hypochondriac and was convincing myself it was colon cancer. After several days of this and more reading I managed to convince myself that it was probably stress related and the symptoms seemed to pass and my poop returned to 'normal'. My doctor wants me on a probiotic. I have no idea what to go to. Is anyone on a probiotic that they feel is working for them. I do have chronic constipation. I would really appreciate your help!

New to the site. I have been struggling with IBS-C for a long time. I have taken about every medicine there is as well as probiotics and other stuff. I have tried fiber some mainly because I am a picky eater and don’t get enough. How do you feel about Benefiber? The pharmacist suggested it today because it won’t cause the gas and bloating. I also seem to have issues with weird size stool and sometimes I wonder if there is something wrong with my tush tush area. Please I am asking for any suggestions. The last 2 weeks have been pure you know what.

It's os literally killing me I need help to cope I have ibs-C and it is the worst my doctor had put me on so many different types of meds and none help

Has anyone tried miralax for chronic constipation? I sometimes have lapses of a few days where I cannot pass a single bowel movement, however I find that a strong laxative helps only for a single day and then I am back to being constipated again. Someone suggested to me taking miralax daily. Wondering if anyone has any insight. Thanks!

I have had IBS most of my life. Constipation was always an issue. Food strongly affect me. I am turning 50 in two months and I am having a colonoscopy for the first time in February 2019. After I eat and my stomach is full… I experience pressure and pinching on my left side in the sigmoid colon area. Does anyone else with IBS have the same symptoms?

Hi I'm new to the forum , really need to hear from others who suffer from Chronic Constipation issues. I m 64, for the past 4 months I have been unable to move bowels normally. What I'm going through is ,I feel the urge to go and cannot get the bowels out. I am seeing a Gastrointestinal Dr. Already ruled out Fecal impaction and any blockage issues by doing a Cat Scan. Has anyone had a worsening of their symptoms after a colonoscopy and endoscopy? It has been 3 days and I have had awful heartburn, acid stomach, bloating and a general feeling of malaise. I've been eating lightly. I've been on omeprazole and have been taking it daily. I've even supplemented with Pepcid. I thought I was feeling a bit better yesterday but then last night I was up a few times with an upset stomach. I also have fibromyalgia. No BM yet. No polyps were found, but the doc did biopsies of my colon, esophagus and stomach. I don't have the results yet.

I want to thank everyone again for their comments and support for my testimony at the FDA in Washington mid-October for two constipation medications namely Zelnorm and Prucalopride. The IBS Patient Support Group was the only patient voice at the meetings. While there was some excellent testimony by some doctors and medical associations, I was the only patient speaking about the patient perspective. Hi All, I'm new to this group, having just left another one that scared the hell out of me. I do have mental health issues, which I'm sure contribute to my daily struggles with IBS-C, and I do have a story, but will let you know for now I suffer from debilitating anxiety, equally debilitating IBS-C, have very little medical support, am on Constella (or Linzess, as it's know in the US), don't use stimulate laxatives, and am wondering what your views of long-term use of Constella happen to be? I suffer from IBS-C..I've tried all kinds of diets including eating just fruits and veggies..I've even JUST gone weeks ONLY having smoothies...ie..blending ALL my foods...fruits..veggies..meats with rice and beans turned to purees..herbal teas but still have trouble going on a regular basis...still experience abdominal pain and bloating and have gone for up to 5 days without a bowel movement...I'm on the websites constantly reading and trying new things but hasn't helped..does anyone have any miracle cures?

I have had IBS-C as long as I can remember. I have NEVER had anything change my condition until 1st trying Azithromycin last year. It made my stool a constant soft stool (sometimes too soft for my comfort) and I still have abdominal pains so not sure what that is about. Within a month of that, I was told I could have some parasite from killing defensive flora, so they had me do a stool sample followed by take flagyl if it doesn't clear in a week. Well it didn't and I took the Flagyl. It cleared up the soft stool within a few days, and my IBS-C went back to normal. I've been having narrow stools and constapation for 2 weeks now feel like I have to go but feels like I haven't finished all the way... plus I can't pass gas barely... left side occasionally hurts and lower left back... I'm worried it might be cancer... I'm 23... this is a new symptom for me mostly I have diarrhea and stomach pain normally. I also feel so bloated when I eat to the point where I can't finish my food... also, I've had colitis before in the past.
