Constipation predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-C) is a subtype of IBS in which a person experiences chronic constipation accompanied by recurrent abdominal pain. Chronic Idiopathic Constipation (CIC), also known as functional constipation, share many of the same symptoms as IBS-C typically with the absence of abdominal pain.
