Hello all I suffer from numerous illness, Graves disease, Heart disease, Raynauds Disease, Restless Leg to name a few but my IBS is worse than all of them combined, i suspect tho not confirmed that i also have leaky gut issues as i get odor despite being extremely clean, Difficulty in the UK is, medical experts dont really accept leaky gut exists in the same way they dont accept Long Covid, pretty backwards health service in the UK. I am new to this website. I was diagnosed with a “spastic colon” around 1980 when I was 27. I am now 72. At first, I had episodes occasionally. But, it has gotten much worse. I never have a BM now without cramping and pain. I have tried Linzess, Trulance, and most recently, Amitriptyline which worked for 9 months , then stopped working. I have followed the FODMAP diet and gone to therapy. I only drink water, watch what I eat, and eat very small portions when I do eat. I exercise regularly. I have no appetite and I dread eating because I know it will cause me pain later. I used to have IBS-D but now I have IBS- C or a combination of both. I am curious to know whether othe…

Hi everyone - Im new here - I have had IBS for 20 years or more. As im getting older its getting harder on me. I have days were I go and go the bathroom like I took a laxative. Im so stressed out - its effecting me Im edgy - nervous and feel like I always have to go. Now I have hemmroids that are bleeding. Is anyone else going through this

I started having ibs symptoms back in April. It started out with a mild pain slash burning in my left rib by my stomach. Now it’s become a non painful tingle in my back right behind my stomach. HI. I've always had a nervous stomach and strange symptoms. The Dr just gives me omeprazole and famotadine at night. I had some stomach lining irritation in December and also had colon polyps removed and had my gallbladder out in Feb. I was sick for a long time thinking it was just ibs. Hi everyone, I have been struggling with my ailment for handful of yrs. It manifests as IBS-C normally does. I underwent an EDG, HIDA scan, and Colonoscopy all this yr to check for everthing. I’ve landed in the hospital multiple times for other things besides this. Bad Colitis infection once. I was diagnosed IBS just a few days ago. Now the gastroenterologist wants me to go to an IBD clinic. Anyone else ever have this experience? The pathology report says negative for colitis. So why would I go to an IBD clinic?

Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone can shed light on my symptoms because I'm at a loss. I've typically had runny stool in the mornings for as long as i can remember. It never was an issue until I started waking up in the middle of the night with abdominal pain (consistently at 4:30am) and then I cant get back to sleep because of the discomfort and gas. Hi, I'm new here. I've always had stomach problems, for a long as I can remember. I carry all of my stress in my gut. As I've gotten older (50 next month) it's gotten worse. Recently dx with IBS, combined type. I do all the things recommended, plus daily meditation and therapy. I've researched the heck out of IBS just to make sure I'm doing what I can. When I have symptoms, it messes with my mental health REALLY BADLY. I was dx with depression about 25 years ago and take medication that does work, thank goodness. I’m recently diagnosed with IBS and have known that I have diverticulitis as well Due to treatments such as Xafaxan and some antibiotics I took late last year due to the pain in my side and intestinal discomfort along with getting bronchitis, I ended out with Trush in my mouth and esophagas. I’m on my 2nd round of treatment for the Thrush which was brutal. I’ve tried Linzess, and Lapiprostone and it’s just not the solution and keeps me tied to being near a bathroom too much of the day. Hello everyone, I did a search to find this group. I'm hoping to gain a compassionate ear and maybe some helpful suggestions. I have had IBS manifested with uncontrollable diarrhea. I have no warning to get to a bathroom. I live in fear of mess is causes me. My husband and I are leaving to fly 9.5 hours nonstop to the UK and I am so afraid I will have an accident on the plane. I started having lower abdomen discomfort and diarrhea in the Summer of 2023, my symptoms went away and then returned in March 2024 after having strep and a round of antibiotics. Those symptoms having continued with occasional red blood in the stool. My stool is between liquid to soft stools constituently, I have had several ultrasounds, CTs, coloscopy and endoscopy that were all clear working with my primary and GI doctor. The GI doctor diagnosed me with IBS-D. I have also had GI testing done by Genova Diagnostics and it showed elevated bacteria in firmicutes phylum and proteobacteria phylum, but my doctor did not order SIBO testing. I was diagnosed with a spastic colon in 1983 and have lived with it since then taking Lomotil on a daily basis to control my diarrhea. I went thru a series of tests at a local hospital several years ago thinking technology was newer and they would have some recommendations for a treatment. After months of testing, they said I have a spastic colon and to continue with my existing treatment. I have been having constant low grade pain in my abdomen for some time. I have had a number of tests including a colonoscopy and endoscopy last week, 2 CT scans in the last 8 months, stool test, urine test, various blood tests (including FBC, inflammatory markers and various tumour marker tests) plus physical examination by my gastroenterologist. In terms of anxiety levels I am 10/10 which is impacting on my quality of life. My diagnosis is irritable bowel with severe anxiety. I find it hard believing that there isn’t something that has been missed. Thoughts?

I am messaging on behalf of my husband who has had SEVERE debilitating colon cramping for the last 9 months. Initially no NHS or private doctor could work out what it was, after many diagnostic tests we have concluded that it is colon cramping from the minute he wakes up untill he sleeps. This is an extremely debilitating condition as it effects every aspect of his life and he is unable to do anything. No oain relief medication helps. He has just been prescribed dicyclomine which takes the edge of the pain but doesn't take away the pain completley. Is there ANYONE out there who can provide any advise on this condition and any cure,thankyou.

Hi I am new to the group. I have slow transit constipation and pelvic floor outlet dysfunction. I have been treated with linzess and amitiza and am now taking senna and miralax trying to get things moving. Unfortunately with so much diarrhea I can’t leave the house and my formerly active lifestyle has all but disappeared. Friends have stopped calling and I am finding myself getting discouraged. Is there any light at the end of this tunnel. Dies anyone recover?

Has anyone tried inulin. It worked for me for a while, but now find I am allergic to it. Has anyone tried Galactooligosaccharides (GOS) and does it work for them?

Some background info: 54 y/o male with no past GI issues at all. I've never had a problem eating whatever I wanted and have never had any issues with spicy foods or any kinds of foods. 14 months ago we moved from the U.S. to Italy and about 4 months after moving I started having GI issues. Dear community, I am a doctor that put myself on Bactrim DS for 3d for a simple UTI in 07/2024. Needless to say, I ended up hospitalized for five days with severe dehydration and relentless diarrhea. Working diagnosis was Severe antibiotic intolerance that unmasked IBS-D. I have been on a low FODMAP diet with improvement but I have not ever been symptom free for more than 2 weeks. I am miserable. Hi, I just found this website after returning home from yet another colonoscopy where I didn't clean out well enough. I was ready to throw in the towel with the whole stupid BS (no pun intended) because, as someone else said, there's no solution . . . I have IBS-C, not to mention a bunch of other chronic stuff. Well, turns out for starters, I didn't even understand the importance of taking Linzess on an empty stomach. I thought it was just another recommendation.
