Hello, new to the forum! I will try introduce myself later in appropriate section, meantime I'd like to share my ailments: I have been suffering with hemorrhoid for years but tolerated it and diagnosed with 2 int/1ext of which 2 internal has been removed. But recent years, constipation during last part of my bowel movement started happening which I said no more and head out to doctor. It in itself is not too bad: most of the stool will pass with no issue with healthy looking but approximately about probably last 10-20% pct by volume would stuck in my body and gets very hard to get out. Has anybody found changing their kind of drinking water has eased symptoms? I have been using RO water a long time, then changed to PUR water filter on the faucet in February. IBS symptoms started in May (after a long time with them minimal) and I'm trying to find to figure out why they started again. I have researched safe drinking water a few times and can't really get clear answers. Thank you for any input u can give. 💓

I started having a flare last month with constipation and it's been downhill from there. I am exhausted. I take align per my doc, Pepcid and Miralax normally. I have added Mylanta. Also, some prunes, which work, but make things too soft....It does provide a bit of relief from gas and bloat and pain. I also have terrible pressure against my tailbone before I need to go to the bathroom and pain all the way down the canal to poop. the doc prescribed Hyoscamine (Levsin) but I have a tough time taking it. Which regular tests are beneficial for IBS patients? Is C-Reactive Protein included in CBC? Are stool sample tests useful for determining treatment of IBS-C?

I'm familiar with the Bristol Stool Scale that describes stool shapes. What about diameter? Lately, my stool has been pencil, even finger size diameter. Is this cause for concern? Have been DX for IBS-C and on RX for Lubiprostone.

I had enough of communicating with people online and prefer to meet someone face-to-face with similar problems as me. And since we all pretty much have the same problem I'm just looking to spend some time with someone that lives in AZ. Upper Right side pain. Endoscopy normal, ultrasound normal. Does anyone have a sharp pain in upper right abdomen below ribs that’s caused by IBS? I stopped Omeprazole ( on it to protect stomach from blood thinners) to see if they were causing it , but it’s still there. A sharp burning pain in one spot like a finger pressing hard on it. I had it in June 2024, but endoscopy was clear. Had an ultrasound in 2023 too and another ultrasound again in dec as the pain was back. I went to A&E on New Year’s Day as it was bad. Do any of my fellow IBS sufferers experience the most foul tasting and smelling sulphur or eggy burps prior to the onset of diarrhoea and stomach cramps? I can only describe it as flatulence from the mouth. I belched around a group of people and they were complaining of the smell saying it was a worse smell than a fart and was more like the smell of a sewer. I can't seem to find any answers to this. Diagnosed ibs, have been for a while. ive been on: amitriptyline mebeverine alverine loperamide sertraline. none of it works, but I have no specific trigger as such. I started having issues in 2019 and it was constant until 2024. Then it just settled itself until now. Can choose either of these colonoscopy preps...Moviprep seems better but just wondering if anyone has any major advantages to either based on experiences.

I had acute IBS-C for the last 33 years. It came on suddenly at age 37, about the same time I went to see a neurologist for lower back pain and was told I had degenerative disk disease (mostly likely from decades of avid whitewater kayaking). Then came years of treatment. I did have SIBO, which was alleviated after multiple treatments with xifaxin. Hello, I was first diagnosed with IBS in my 40’s, late 1990’s. It comes and goes, but lately has been awful. I am a worrier and recently ( under tragic circumstances), had to put our dog to sleep. I am going to the bathroom three times a day on average, am gassy and bloated. Because my symptoms were bothering me, last August I had a full CT scan of my entire GI scan. It found NOTHING. I’m not sure if I should eat more or less. It’s unnerving as my mother died from colon cancer, though I do get regular colonoscopies. Of course stress and worrying makes it all worse. Any suggestions?

Hi so I few weeks ago I woke up bloated and had cramping in intestines and right flank pain.I went to emergency dr app and he said it was indigestion to take buscopan and paracetamol wich I did.2 weeks later the bloating isnt as chronic it comes and goes especially in evening after eating.I have cut out fizzy drinks alchol and am eating more fiber.I am having mixed stool somtimes I am constipated other times I have diarrhoea Bristol stool chart 6 .I am also getting headaches.I have just been treated for uti and the flank pain has lessened severity but it is still their mild pain like stinging.I am also getting pelvic discomfort like heaviness rather than pain back ache an…

Hi I’m new to the site and have been dealing with ibs for years. It pretty much controls my life. Also I have been diagnosed with levator ani syndrome which is a pain in the pelvic floor area. I apologize if this is too much information but I have been prescribed amitriptyline for my issues and I’m very concerned about the side effects. They want me to take 10 mg to see how that works. I am just curious if anyone has dealt with this medication and the side effects especially constipation and digestive issues thanks

Hello all, I have IBS since my childhood and it affects my daily life a lot like many of you. There are some periods that are easier and some periods that I called "crisis" which are very hard to handle on both a physical and mental level. I've tried many different things and I've seen a few doctors and gastroenterologists but they never could help me and I always felt like they were not taking me seriously. Do any of you that have IBS - D ever had an issue with rectal pressure? I believe it may be trapped gas, because when I pass gas, it relieves it for a while. But then it comes back. How can this be gotten rid of? Or could it be a small bowel movement that did not empty?

I have had IBS type symptoms now for over 20 years, I'm 67. Had all the usual, colonoscopies / breath tests etc. My main issue seems to be incomplete emptying - I go every morning and mostly empty, but on more days that not there is more that will not move. Often my bowel motions are mushy, and I will be in the bathroom for over an hour each day. After the first evac, which usually comes within 5 mins - I stand up and shave etc - just waiting for the sensation that there is more coming. Usually at this point I have some bloating and fullness. Hiya, What's the best way to find out what triggers your IBS? (Finding it quite frustrating). I've done some research and found a company which samples your hair to find out any potential intolerances. Thought its worth a try even if I eliminate one thing at a few for a few weeks. Being into bodybuilding I try to follow a high protein diet. I used to have greek yoghurt before bed but by evening 3 I would wake up with a strong urge to go to the toilet. I've since been cutting out dairy/whey protein etc. I do take L-glutamine in the morning which seems to help a little but it doesn't take much to upset my stomach. Any success with acupuncture to relive pain symptoms?

Hi there, Does anyone else find that they have symptoms late evening / into the night? The evenings and night times seem the worst for me… Im pretty sure I have emetophobia as well, so these symptoms can cause me to feel anxious which then makes my symptoms worse. One of my main symptoms is nausea too so I am having to try and convince myself that this is a IBS flare up and not a bug which is sometimes hard to tell the difference. Living with this is so debilitating and horrible sometimes! Does anyone else feel the same? What do they find that manages their symptoms best? Any help or advice appreciated! I have days where I constantly pass gas. I'm talking several times and hour and even in the middle of the night. Nothing helps. It's pure suffering.

Typically how long do you get gas pains or trapped wind without introducing any new foods? Does constipation cause pain in right side and gas? Just can’t get a handle on why my right side is cramping? Had severe gas pains last night, have eaten nothing today not even coffee but have abdominal pain in right side and don’t feel gassy. Busocpan doesn’t seem to help. Suggestions?
