FODMAP

Featured Replies

Has anyone else researched food triggers for their IBS? I have already given up caffeine, gluten, soft cheeses and other processed products with garlic, onion and inulin, anything ending in -ol and artificial sweeteners or anything with magnesium or gums in them.

Hi,

It's worrisome to read "given up" on foods. The low FODMAP diet was really meant to be used to determine how much you can tolerate a specific food high in Fodmaps. It wasn't intended to eliminate a lot of things.

That being said - I agree with everything on your list. 😊

I watch my caffeine, I do not have any issues with gluten. I am lactose intolerant so soft cheese are out. I agree that garlic and onion can be rough, but I can have them in moderation. Inulin is pure evil. I can tolerate a tiny amount of it if it's way down in the ingredient list. Yes, artificial sweeteners are a no-no for me too.

I admit that eliminating foods is not perfect. I might feel like crap anyways for no other reason than IBS.
