Hello everyone!

Hello everyone! My name is Emily! I have had what I consider to be IBS-D for years now. My symptoms are abdominal pain, loose stool/diarrhea, gas, bloating and fecal urgency. I went to the doctor today and was told for 2 weeks to eliminate gluten, artificial sweeteners, soy, lactose, etc. Basically if it’s processed, don’t eat it. If it comes from a container, don’t eat it. If “man” has touched it, don’t eat it. I was given a prescription for Bentyl for the cramps. This illness is so hard to deal with sometimes. I never know when the cramps are going to hit. And I cannot hold the urge to have a bowel movement like normal people. It is nice to know there are others that suffer and understand our pain. People that don’t deal with this truly don’t understand how debilitating it can be.

Hi Emily,

Sorry that you have been managing these symptoms for so many years. There are other treatment options available if the Bentyl and elimination of those foods don't ease the symptoms for you. You can find more information in the IBS-D forum. Happy to answer any questions.

Glad you stopped by.
