Hi all, 10 years ago I was diagnosed with IBS. In the past year I have been experiencing diarrhea more often. It causes me to call out of work, and puts me out for commission for the day. I take imodium but that sometimes take a while to kick in. I am also lactose intolerant, so I take a lactaid pill before I eat dairy.

How do you deal with this? What do you take, and eat food wise?

Hi Rachel,

I'm sorry to read that you are really troubled by your IBS with diarrhea. I used to miss a lot of work too.

Have you ever looked into using the low FODMAP diet to see if any foods in large quantities are contributing to your diarrhea?

Has your doctor ever mentioned the medication Viberzi to you? It works similar to imodium, but you take it up to twice daily. You must have a gallbladder to take that medication.

Since your flare-ups happen only sometimes rather than constantly, it could mean your body is reacting to a specific food or hidden ingredients you aren't tracking. This could also be a specific additive found in a stored, packaged food rather than the main ingredient itself.

It would be highly beneficial to learn more about food ingredients and digestion overall, and you can actually use AI to help you analyze food labels and quickly pinpoint potential triggers.
