AlyssaM
HI. I've been on Linzess for at least a month. My question is this: I know I am supposed to take it on an empty stomach and wait a half hour before eating. I take it with a glass of water when I first wake up. I do wait at least a half hour before eating, but I often have difficulty waiting a half an hour to have coffee. I'm not having D. I still get constipated frequently, thought the bloating and constipation has decreased since I started Linzess. Do you think drinking the coffee less than than a half an hour after Linzess is putting a damper on it's effectiveness? I should be able to control myself, but I'm quite addicted to caffeine, and I'm lost until I have a couple of cups of black coffee. Thoughts? GailSusan
I've been taking my Linzess with black coffee for three or four years now. In fact, this morning I had two cups. I find I need the coffee to increase the effectiveness of Linzess. It seems to speed up my peristalsis.
AlyssaM
Thank you!....(runs to make coffee). I just wish that I didn't still have to take laxatives. Before Linzess it was way worse. I literally could not go unless I took lots of laxatives or two different kinds at once. I even did the enema thing, which wasn't too fun. I was building a tolerance to laxatives. I still have to take them maybe twice per week on average. I drink tons of water, the fiber, the exercise, but yea. So, I may buy some probiotics in pill form...I already eat Greek yogurt. Any ideas on that?

Joy
I was diagnosed with gastroparesis, a condition that slows down the digestion of food. Taking fiber makes the condition worse. I get so badly constipated that I'm bent over with cramps. My doctor suggested linzess, but since I take so many different medications now, I didn't want to add to it. A friend of mine suggested coffee in the morning, which I never drink. I am a teetotaler. But I followed his suggestion, and voila, so far it has been working like magic for me. Glad I don't need to take another medication. Let's just hope the coffee continues to work.

Headaches were seen, but I don't see sinus infections. Perhaps let your doctor know that you are troubled by this.
