Azure
Hi all, I have been dealing with a frustrating problem for quite a few years and am hoping someone here can help. I have IBS, the main symptom being severe bloating at night and in the morning. However I only ever feel gas on the left side. For about the past 5 years I have been experiencing a flaring of my ribs on the left side (that's what I believe it is as CT scan has showed nothing). I am wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar. Do you think it is possible that a flared rib could be caused by dissension from gas? Any answers or experience with this would be greatly appreciated!

Coastal Cam
I’ve had a similar issue for years, but for me the rib flare was present before the GI issues, notably constipation and bloating, became a noticeable problem. ive had some limited success with yoga and have recently found a technique using child’s pose, that is helping both the rib flare and the GI troubles. Lots more to do but I’m optimistic for the first time in ages.
Mia
I have had the same problem for several years as well. It is actually comforting to know I'm not alone. I have IBS constipation and GERD. My physician said I should start using flax seed for the constipation. It helped but then I started getting such pain under my left rib and attributed it to trapped gas and stool where the intestines take a sharp turn on the left upper side. I switched to acacia seneca fiber and the gas seemed a little less for awhile but now it's back and severe. Nothing much seems to help. I was doing some flared rib exercises for a month but it didn't seem to help much. Some days are very uncomfortable, especially driving in the car and wearing a bra is very uncomfortable. There are a lot of evenings where I don't want to eat because it feels like I have a balloon under that rib pushing it out. I am interested in "Coastal Cam's" comment about the child's pose in yoga. Anyone else have any luck with that or other things?
