Too much bloating and gas

Recommended Posts

I suffer with extreme bloating, gas feels like bubbling, too much urge and many trips to the bathroom. Can't eat properly due to this problem. Suffering from 24;years, medicines don't help much. I remain stressed

You might benefit from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) or Hypnotherapy which might change your thought patterns and stop the urge to go to the bathroom too much.

You should also look into the low FODMAP diet to see if it helps reduce your bloating.

I don't know if this is at all helpful.
But when I have bad flare-ups (gas,  bloating and loose stool) I go immediately onto a very low fibre diet for a day or two, to see if that calms my gut.
But that would depend on your type of IBS and what you're going through.  If you get constipated, it may not be such a good idea to do that,

But I find any lentils or beans, dhal etc makes me worse. Those are on the high FODMAP list anyway, and not advised during a low FODMAP trial.

Being vegetarian is difficult. Many plant based foods will create gas as they digest. But firm Tofu is not so bad.

I used to be vegan but had to switch to eating fish and eggs, or I wasn't getting enough protein in the plant-based foods I found easier to digest.

I am not lactose intolerant, so can eat cheese like Cheddar, Gouda, Edam in moderation. They don't upset my gut.

But if you are lactose intolerant, that could cause problems too. The only way to fnd out is to cut all dairy products out for a week or two and see if there is any change. If not, then fine.

People can go for years and not realise they are lactose intolerant but just have a chronically upset gut.

Spices and seasonings too can be culprits. I went to just seasoning my food with salt, and sometimes I can get away with a tiny bit of black pepper. I am wary of anything else, including kitchen herbs, as had a bad belly one day after adding Rosemary and French herbs to my soup.
