cu2urok
I read the following study Targeting Histamine Receptors in Irritable Bowel Syndrome: A Critical Appraisal (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5503283/) as I already had Zyrtec (citrizine) in my home I decided to try it. I have relief for the first time in years from bloating, distension and nausea. I am also following an antihistamine diet that was given to me as a child. That means not only the food, but how it is prepared and kept. The antihistamine diet does not have anything to do with being allergic to food nor is the antihistamine being used for food allergy. It is about the mast cells that release histamine whether in the skin, lung or gut. Certain foods are high in histamine others are histamine liberators and others interfere with the enzyme DAO used to breakdown the histamine. Since I have a history of allergies, asthma and eczema and having been on an antihistamine diet as a child, it made sense for me to try. Here is a link to Low Histamine Diet 101: What to Eat, What to Avoid and Why. https://doctorchuma.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Low-Histamine-Diet-101.pdf I have incorporated homeopatic treatment as well when needed and here is a link to that information. https://www.peacehealth.org/medical-topics/id/hn-2234009 I hope what I shared helps you as it has helped me. Esjie
@cu2urok This is really interesting. Do you feel this is beginning to cure you? Or at least lessening symptoms? (which is very good!) I never thought of a histamine connection with myself, as I don't have any history of allergies at all. But I hadn't really studied what implications there are. Thank you for the link. I have also tried homeopathy and found a lot of help from Carbo. Veg. 12C daily. It was prescribed by a qualified homeopath. It stopped my lower belly bloating and the sensation of trapped wind. It didn't fix my loose bm's which come and go, but helped a lot. I didn't know what to expect from homeopathy, but was pleasantly surprised at the help it has given me. It hasn't solved everything. I still have issues, but has been super helpful. I have seen homeopathy work on animals, so know it is more than a placebo effect. My homeopath tried me with Nux/Sulph mix but I got a 4 day aggravation and had to stop those remedies. I am interested in the histamine angle. Thanks. Edited January 27, 2021 by Esjie
