Is this a common IBS symptom??

Hello! I just found this group today and am so happy to find a community of people that understand the IBS struggle. I have dealt with IBS-C symptoms my whole life and just recently decided to switch doctors and see a new GI specialist near me.
long story short...one of my most prominent symptoms is right upper quadrant pain. It is a chronic dull pain. The pain shoots to my left side chest when touched. The doctor didn’t seem to be surprised by that and wrote it off as a symptom directly related to my IBS. I’m a little concerned it could be an ulcer or something related to my gallbladder. Thoughts??

Hello!

I'm not familiar with that symptom except to contribute it to gas. I would think the pain would move on its own if it were gas, so I'm surprised that it hurts when you touch it.

I'm not certain about it being an ulcer or gallbladder. Could it not be muscular?

How long have you had it? Does it ever go away?

I also had upper right quadrant pain.  Had my gallbladder removed and the histology report showed i had some gallstones but it wasn’t blocking the billary duct.   The pain is still there afee the r the surgery by the way.  Makes me think if my gallbladder could have been saved..

Hi. I’m brand new to this group today. Has any dr ever suggested inter-costal chondritis? I was first diagnosed about twenty five years ago. The cartilage between two ribs inflames and is painful to touch. Things like heavy exertion or stress can cause a flare up.
Anyway, may be worth asking your dr what he/she thinks. Best of luck!
