Kegr
Has anyone done FMT for IBS-D? Which clinic? And how long did the effectiveness of FMT lasted? Thank you
Jeffrey Roberts
For the most part FMT for IBS-D has only been available under research. The latest research indicated that FMT by colonoscopy or enema did not produce good results; however, FMT by oral capsule or upper gastroscopy is showing better results. Kegr
Thank you for your reply. Is there a qualification to get that FMT oral capsule or upper gastroscopy?
Jeffrey Roberts
It was a 60 month study done in China. https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fmed.2021.710452/full
Michael Harrop
@Kegr it's largely unavailable through "official" means. Many of us resort to DIY. I've DIY'd with over a dozen donors at this point. https://web.archive.org/web/20220801072636/https://old.reddit.com/r/HumanMicrobiome/comments/8sv31e/my_detailed_experiences_lessons_from_8_different/ And I did find one that gave me major improvements for IBS-D: https://web.archive.org/web/20221101144334/https://old.reddit.com/r/FMTClinics/comments/uase7j/humanmicrobesorg_donor_flrs1997_addressing_ibsd/ Many people & trials report lasting benefits from a single dose or a few doses, but for me it requires continual treatment.
