Has anyone tried Cymbalta for IBS?

Featured Replies

I’ve been taking Zoloft for depression for many years.  Has anyone tried Cymbalta for both depression AND IBS?  Either standing alone or with other meds?

@Ursula M I have used cymbalta before. I believe I was using it after I had stopped using amitriptyline for pain and D. I found it very effective at managing pain and mood and I stayed on it for about 1 year.

Thanks, Jeffrey!  I may talk to my psychiatrist about it at my next appointment.  I’ll keep you posted!

I hear Cymbalta can be a nightmare to get off of.

It was very challenging. I had to get the drug compounded into smaller doses and I weaned off it over a period of 12 weeks. In my opinion, the benefits of the medication outweighed the challenge of coming off of it.
