Harker
This is a terrible feeling. I constantly have urges to go to the bathroom when I'm outside or when I'm sitting watching TV. But as soon as I sit down, rectum completely closes up. I have to strain extremely hard just to push out a small fraction. And this isn't my mind playing tricks. Whenever I use rectal enema, the stool comes out. It has now gotten to the point where I can't push out any stool without using rectal enema. Anyone here have any experience on how to open up the rectum and let it pass? Doesn't matter how much fiber I eat or how soft my stool his. It just refuses to come out, as if the rectum has a will of its own
Jeffrey Roberts
Hello, It is possible that you have a sensation to empty your bowels, but that's about it. This could be from something called tenesmus, or perhaps a pelvic floor issue. Have you spoken with a doctor about this? Has anyone suggested a bowel movement study? raygoesmobile
Do you have any anal prolapse? If so, a vinyl glove and support yourself will help. And maybe finger as a probe? Sorry for being so graphic. You can try taking a whole lot of vitamin C. We're talking doses in the twenty gram range, at least for an 80kg guy like me.
Deb H
I am not a doctor, but this sounds precisely like dysynergic defecation. Dysnergic defecation is quite common for people who suffer from chronic constipation. I strongly suggest you ask your doctor for an anorectal manometry to diagnose it. Then it can be treated with pelvic floor therapy and biofeedback. My son has this. Good luck to you. This is treatable.
