sarah91and
PLEASE HELP I have been suffering from chronic stomach pain for 8 months now. I have sharp pain that is on my left side under my rib and wraps around to my back. Recently that area has become swollen. The pain is almost always there. I also have cramping all over my stomach that comes and goes randomly. I was diagnosed with ibs-c when I was 14 and acid reflux when I was 8. These symptoms are different. It sometimes get worse after eating. I've tried diet, medications and had a colonoscopy, endoscopy and CT. Nothing comes from it. Any advice? Jeffrey Roberts
Dear Sarah, You certainly have had a lot of stomach problems since you were very young, but this sounds different. Just because you have a history of IBS-C or acid reflux doesn't mean that you can't get something else that is related or unrelated to those. I'm not clear - did you have a recent colonoscopy, endoscopy and CT because of this new pain? Swelling is not related to IBS, but could be related to impaction. Has this pain and swelling been there the whole time or is that new?

I rub my tummy gently in clockwise circles. It calms me down and gently wakes my digestive track in the morning. I have IBS-C. I get trapped gas that is painful and the gentle rubbing soothes the pain and soothes the confusion I feel concerning my IBS-C. And I like to lay down briefly and that is soothing. Don’t give up. Nicola
Hi Sarah, I have IBS -C and cramps pain. Not too long ago I experienced the same type of pain but under my right rib. I had a scan and they didn’t find anything but said I had so much gas inside they could barely see anything underneath all the gas!
