urgent bowel movement but no pain before or after

i am a 83 year old male caucasian diagnosed with IBS 30 years ago. until 12 years ago, it was very manageable .

then i got CDIFF.  since then, i have had to cope with fecal urgency . the cdiff tests negative for 5 years now but had to do three antibacterial drug regimens, the last being 3 months of Vancomyicin(?) in the last 5 years, colonoscopy reveals nothing. have tried the usual probiotics with no real improvements.

my symptoms are urgent, very urgent, bms but with no pain before or after.   if a toilet is within one minute access, i'm fine.  just sort of stuck having to be near a toilet.

imodium seems to help but not much.

the reason i 'm writing is that after reading most of the posts, i see that pain , which i do not have at all, appears to be a big  part of most all others symptoms.

so, anybody out there have my symptoms and a solution?    also, my going to a doctor has been  a waste of time, no matter how much money you are willing to spend. they just don't know what to do.

thank you all

Seems like this is a common theme where there is no answer. Really sorry you're going through this and wish there was a cure or a better answer.

The good news for you is thats its nothing big because the tests keep coming back negative.

I dont get severe pains when I have to go but I know its coming. Maybe you're taking something that helps with pain too and you're not feeling it? Like Tylenol or something?

C Diff is miserable. I'm really sorry to read that you had that. A lot of patients after curing the C Diff develop Post-infectious IBS; however, abdominal pain is usually associated with that along wth the loose stool.

You might talk to your doctor about using ondansetron 4-8mg daily to slow down your bowel. Too much of it will make you constipated so you have to manage it and find the right dosage. If you have any cardiovascular disease, you also need to be monitored with it. It should work better than imodium.
