How close are we to precision dietary management of IBS? - Tuesday Night IBS

Featured Replies

On October 10th, we hosted a fabulous webinar with experts Tony Lembo, MD from Cleveland Clinic, Madison Simons, PsyD from Cleveland Clinic and Kate Scarlata, RD, MPH discussing the history of IgG food sensitivity testing, the evolution of this diagnostic test and the data behind a new, validated test designed specifically for patients with IBS. Dr. Lembo, the principal investigator on the study assessing the InFoods IBS IgG test, shared the data behind this evolving diagnostic, the benefits, and the potential risks of IgG testing for some patients . We also heard from Dr. Simons, a GI Psychologist and expert in food over-restriction in patients with GI conditions, on the importance of screening to ensure the right patient profile for IgG food testing. Our resident GI dietitian,Kate Scarlata, presented how elimination diets such as the low FODMAP and other diets can be beneficial in managing IBS in some patients, how close we are to a more precise dietary plan for each patient and when a diet therapy might not be the best fit. Most IBS patients want to try diet and other lifestyle changes first to manage their IBS symptoms, so this webinar is important information for patients and providers alike.
