Foods to avoid IBS-D

Recommended Posts

Need advice on foods to avoid. I’m trying to do everything in my power to not have another incident at work. I’m on Paxil due to depression/anxiety. Also mediating and journaling to lower stress level as that is making my symptoms worse. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

The only studied diet is a low FODMAP diet to help discover which foods high in FODMAP might be contributing to IBS-D. It is best to work with a Dietitian to manage this diet.

While I second the recommendation of a dietician (a good one) to manage the FODMAP diet I'll add a bit of info:
1) When our family GI recommended we think about it he suggested we not go all in on it because, to quote him: "it will make you crazy"
Take that with a grain of salt, but a strict FODMAP diet is extremely challenging.

2) There is a great smart phone application out of Monash University in Australia. Search the app store or google play for Monash FODMAP diet

We have a family member with lactose intolerance as well & use it to id cheeses that are ok.
