My doctor doesn’t believe I have IBS, but has not given my problem a name. I’ve been looking at so much information online looking for help. I’ve struggled with contsipation over the years, but nothing like what I’m experiencing now. Lactulose and senna did not work. Eventually, I had to go to the hospital in July and had a fecal impaction which, after several suppositories and enemas, they cleared with a barium enema. They did a colonoscopy and said except for a diverticulum near the anal opening, everything looked good. I used Miralax and colace for a couple months which worked until it didn’t. I used two bottles of mag citrate, which cleaned me out and called my doctor. He prescribed Linzess 145 in the morning. I’ve been using 6 days…no results until my body told me it was time for a BM. It’s there, but nothing’s coming out. My doctor told me to increase 145 to two times a day and use a bottle of mag citrate before going to bed tonight and if necessary, use another bottle tomorrow night. I feel the urge to go it still won’t come out…not even the gas.  I trust my doctor, but am worried about this. Has anyone had a similar situation?

I understand how challenging this is to find the right mixture of medication and supplements.

Mag citrate is pretty rough stuff. If that's not working along with Linzess twice per day, I would suggest considering another medication. There are several available in the US for IBS-C. One that is completely different is Ibsrela.
