November 30, 20241 yr comment_97345 I have had IBS-C for 50 years. It has also been diagnosed as idiopathic chronic constipation. I have tried everything that anyone can think of. Really. The only medication that ever worked for me was Zelnorm. I got about two years out of it, and then it stopped working. It was also taken off the market about 20 years ago. I just tried IBSRELA, and it works almost as well as Zelnorm did when Zelnorm was still working. I would encourage everyone who can to try it. My bowel movements approach normal, and there is no lower abdominal pain at all. I don't know if this will last, but it is certainly worth trying if you can. Report
December 4, 20241 yr comment_97404 Thank you so much for sharing your success with Ibsrela. Zelnorm did make a brief appearance on the market again in 2019-2022. It was taken off the market again in 2022 for business reasons. FYI, Motegrity which is indicated for chronic idiopathic constipation rather than IBS-C, is the same type of medication as Zelnorm. January 23, 20251 yr comment_98314 For some reason my IBS symptoms seem to be worse on Ibsrela. I did a sample pack in December and that worked great. I was able to get a 30-day supply this month (after insurance denial), and it seems my symptoms have gotten worse. Other than the diarrhea side effect I'm also experiencing more belly pain - I had to go to the ER for it this weekend. My current gastro doctor fit me in for an "8-week appointment"(?) later next month, and my nutritionist just put me on a diarrhea diet until then. Has anyone else experienced symptoms with this med? May 31, 20251 yr comment_101075 Tried this first time yesterday as per instructions. Diarrhea constantly after about 5 hrs. I am gonna try 1/2 pill today and see what happens. I have had some of my colon removed. I’m gonna see what happens. Report
May 31, 20251 yr comment_101077 I had almost around-the-clock diarrhea the first 2-3 weeks at first as well. It sent me to the ER due to severe abdominal pain, where I found out my potassium had been depleted and had to get a potassium drip and supplements. I took a month-long break and decided to try again since I had tried the samples before all this and they worked great. It's been 3 months and I still have diarrhea, but it's mild and "manageable" - my body now usually poops around twice a day at certain times of the day. I'm thinking if I maybe eat more fibrous foods it will absorb some of the water to where it's normal poop. That's always been a hard habit for me to develop but I'll see if I can manage at least a week or two and see. Report
