FMT for IBS?

Featured Replies

Has anyone had success using FMT for IBS-C and abdominal pain?  I know that the data is mixed but I'd love to hear any success stories.

P.S.  I know that I would have to go to another country to do this.

Thanks.

Good question!

I have never considered FMT for IBS-C, but rather for IBS-D.

I'm not sure you will hear about any success stories quite yet. It's not yet proving to be effective for IBS-D. Whether it's where the microbiota is placed via enema or taken orally, or the number of times done, or the quantity used. Nobody has been able to crack this yet.

The only condition known to be effective for FMT is Clostridium Difficile.
