In other words, the causes of your IBS-C symptoms are not necessarily the same as someone else's. So, it makes sense that there is not a one-size-fits-all treatment for IBS-C. Different people may need different treatments.

It's important to find the medication that's right for you

Because there are different causes of IBS-C, it's important to have different treatment options. Today there are 4 FDA-approved medications for IBS-C. If you try a treatment initially and it doesn't give you the relief you had hoped for, you should talk to your doctor about trying something different.
