Spasms?

Featured Replies

For me it’s not pain but an overall ache in my abdomen the day before. Is there a way to stop the diarrhea before it starts?

Half of an Imodium tablet helps me after it starts the next day. I need to take Imodium most every time I will be in public. I usually have 3-4 loose stools every morning.

Imodium often causes constipation the next day. I’ve had to physically remove it, so often I take a stool softener the day after the Imodium and then it begins again.

All of my thoughts seem to revolve around this. It gets more serious as I age. I’m 76 now and I first lost my bowels in public at age 36 due to a stressful event.

How do others manage it?

I'm sorry to read that you are having diarrhea and the treatment is causing constipation.

You might talk to your doctor about trying one of the two other medications that might not make you as stopped up, but will hopefully control the abdominal pain and diarrhea.

1) Viberzi. You can only use this if you have a gallbladder. You can start at the lowest dosage once per day (75 mg) and see if that helps. You can take this every day. If 75 mg is too much than you can cut that in half and/or take that every day.

2) Ondansetron. This can be taken initially at 4mg and can be repeated every 8 hours if you need it. You can take this every day. The dose can be titrated up or down.
